Alabama will hold its 14th annual sales tax holiday, beginning Friday, July 19th, 2019 at 12:01 a.m. CST and ending Sunday, July 21st, 2019 CST at 12 midnight.
The weekend gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing free of state sales tax. Local sales tax may apply.
Barbour, Russell, Lee, and Chambers County are all participating in the Alabama tax free weekend. Find a complete list of participating AL counties HERE.

Examples of Tax Exempt Items Included:
- Clothing items $100 or less (per item of clothing)
- School Uniforms
- Printer and Ink
- Paints and Paintbrushes
- Pens and Pencils
- Books valued at $30 or less
- and MORE
Items NOT Tax Exempt:
- Cleats/Spiked Athletic Shoes
- Shin Guards
- Video Games
- and MORE
Georgia’s last sales tax holiday was in 2017, the state did not have one in 2018 and will not in 2019.
NOTE – According to the Alabama Department of Revenue, the sales tax holiday does include online purchases, but only for items delivered during the tax free weekend, NOT items ordered during those days.
